Hands on building of your skills will be practiced by
Carving notches for camp projects that can be handy for many uses.
Carving primitive traps, snare and deadfall.
Batoning wood for fire making, and honing your skills to make fine shavings for fire making.
According on the class and time, there may be more areas covered as well.

1) One knife with at least a 5 inch blade or longer, and full tang is required. You can bring other knives of your choice as well, to see how each performs with each task.
The course will provide knife safety, learning many carving cuts and skills, that can be used for a lifetime in the wilderness, for various projects. You will learn traps that was used long ago, to harvest game for Life saving needs. We will be covering the Deadfall trap, Snaring and twitch traps. These skills can build your skills with a knife and be fun to practice and master your skill.

PRICE $350/ PERSON. MAX 6 people, age 14 minimum and must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
This course will cover the essentials of survival, and progress into Survival in more depth, connecting with the forest around you. With this experience and training, you will grow your understanding to a new level, that can help you stay safe if ever lost or stranded. You will also learn skills, that you can share at camp, on a day hike, and almost any, outdoor adventure you take.
The course will start Friday evening, and end Sunday noon. You will spend most of your time in the forest during this time. Friday night you can sleep in a set up you bring example a tent or hammock, or in a survival shelter that we will cover that evening. Saturday night will be sleeping in a survival shelter, to experience how it feels. Knowing how a shelter works and feels, leaves you with far less surprises in a true situation, it can ease stress and panic, if you know what to expect.
This course will cover:
Survival mentality, and gear recommended
Shelter fundamentals and set up, with a tarp and cordage, then progress into shelters using what you find in nature, and how to control your Core temp
How a fire works and what wood to collect. As well as a technique that increases fire success. Learn how to collect and use natural tinders off the land, and making fire with lighters, fero rod techniques and Solar fire skills.
Water collection thru modern and primitive means, how to find and make it safe for human consumption
Signalling and the importance of how the human eyes work. How we see to take advantage of that to set up signalling to get found. Also sound and rules that are know internationally, to get help.
These skills will better prepare you for your outdoor time in our wilderness. Hands on learning and experiencing how all the teaching works can grow your skills and confidence.
The gear required:
PROPER clothing and footwear for the terrain, and weather conditions are a MUST. 1) 6×8 tarp and 4×6 tarp 2) strong cordage at least 25ft. e.g 550 paracord, bank line, mason twine. 3) 1 liter single walled stainless steel water bottle with removable lid, to place in a fire to boil water. 4) Fire kit e.g Two disposable lighters, matches and a long burning tinder to catch the flame. 5) Whistle and mirror 6) Fixed blade knife for carving and possible splitting wood 7) Folding saw or buck saw for firewood gathering 8) Sleeping bag rated for the temperature suggested for the course. 9) Food and water for duration 10) Rain gear and extra clothing. 11) Head lamp and lighting 12) Leather Gloves 13) Cook set if needed for meals
